At now you can change the buffer size in preferences of Windows Media Player:
- Right click on Windows Media Player to invoke the context menu
- Go to "Tools" -> "Options..."
- Select "Performance" tab, and then click on "Buffer" and enter buffer size.

I can not say exactly the date, but I think within a month will be a new minor version with corrected offline channels and new channels.
