Re: Winyl 2.8 is released

Winyl is already my favourite player due to its sound quality. I noticed the new WASAPI setting in v2.8 & gave it a try. I was expecting a drop in quality because it disables the 32 bit processing option, but it seems to give a bit more detail & openness. I'm not certain because there is a change in volume and a pause while restarting playback, but is WASAPI theoretically better?

It doesn't disables 32 bit. With WASAPI output 32 bit enabled by default and cannot be disabled.
WASAPI allows to bypass Windows mixer and send the audio stream directly to the soundcard without resampling. In some cases, it can provide better sound quality.

Just logged in to say thanks for such a promising app. Using v2.8.6 in portable mode (launch parameter -p) with the Luna Blue skin and I'm quite impressed. Simple, straightforward fun. Keep up the great work.  8)

Alexander I have been looking for a simple, easy to use, mp3 player for along while. Up to now AIMP has been resident on my machines. AIMP has been evicted and Winyl now takes pride of place on my Windows 8 laptop. It does exactly what I want - finds my music without a murmur, plays its  beautifully.
I was a systems manager before a couple of strokes knocked the stuffing out of me. Music is now quite important and your program meets my needs 100%.
Please don't go too far down the line of making it a Winamp type clone etc.
My congratulations on a simple and very elegant little program.

Am going to put Winyl on my desktop which has a huge library.
