Winyl - Questions / feature requests
« on: April 17, 2011, 11:59:50 PM »
would you please consider adding some features to beef up the smart playlist function?  for example, i am looking for the ability to display all files that are not in x, y, and z genres.  this is possible with many other implementations of the smartlist (like in itunes or songbird).  it may seem a stupid thing but for users like me who have become accustomed to them, it is central to how we work with our music collections.

secondly, winyl would instantly be a lot more powerful if you added support for commandline addons.  for example, you could specify in preferences a commandline program (this could be for a tag editor, volume normalizer, format converter, audio editors,  or countless other functions).  then when you right click on a file (or multiple files) you could send those files as a commandline parameter to whatever programs you specified in preferences.  winyl would stop playing the file and then refresh the file when it noticed the program ended.  this way many features can be added to winyl without making the base program any more bloated.  There are already lots of programs that accept filenames as commandline parameters and winyl can benefit from the codebase that is already out there (why waste valuable coding time on a feature that already exists out there).  also, even if you do pursue coding additional file processing features yourself, if you create them as an independent program that accepts commandline parameters, then you will keep your code cleaner/segregated and easier to troubleshoot.

anyway, just my opinion!  you are doing absolutely great with the program!
